A five minute walk from the Centre is The Moorings Campsite.  Run by Thea Savory this beautiful campsite welcomes travelers as they journey across Africa, or investigate Zambia.   Its convenient location allows visitors a gracious halt between Livingsone (approx. 200 miles away) and Lusaka (approx. 100 miles away).   It is close to Lochinvar Game Reserve, a great place for birders in particular.

The Clinic

Next to the Malambo Centre and close to the Moorings Campsite Dr Thea van Huis Savory runs the Moorings Clinic.   The clinic, like the Centre, is funded by donations from an international spectrum of philanthropists and well-wishers.

Food For Work

Tom and Thea Savory run a "Food-for-Work" program, with donations from the public.   This program allows people from the surrounding areas to work small projects that will benefit the community, for which they receive food in exchange.   The program runs during the worst months of drought to alleviate hunger and starvation in this area of endemic drought.  Many able men and women benefit from this program, but sometimes the old and disabled will come for help, and in these cases the "work" is minimal or nonexistent.

Secondary Education

Many students are subsidized in high school or college through a program monitored by Tom and Thea Savory with the aid of Zambian elders of the community. Funding is by donation from many individuals, internationally.
